Choosing beds
Choose the bed type first
Every bed we make starts in our Chiniot workshop with seasoned solid wood, but the right type depends on who sleeps in it and how big the room is.
- King size beds: the usual choice for a master bedroom, built for 6 x 6.5 ft and 6 x 7 ft mattresses.
- Double and queen beds: for couples in smaller rooms and for guest rooms.
- Single beds: for children, teenagers and spare rooms.
- Cushion beds: a solid wood frame with a padded poshish headboard.
- Bunk beds: two beds stacked, for shared children's rooms.
- Solid wood beds and Sheesham beds: browse by material if wood is your first decision.
Standard bed sizes in Pakistan
Beds in Pakistan are sold by mattress size, in feet. These are the sizes we see and build most often. The outer size of the frame is larger, because the headboard and side rails add a few inches.
| Bed size | Mattress (feet) | Mattress (inches) | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single | 3 x 6.5 ft | 36 x 78 in | Children, guest rooms (common) |
| Wide single | 3.5 x 6.5 ft | 42 x 78 in | Teenagers, one adult |
| Double | about 4.5 x 6.25 ft | about 54 x 75 in | One adult, or a couple in a small room |
| Queen | 5 x 6.5 ft | 60 x 78 in | Couples in rooms around 10 to 11 ft wide |
| King | 6 x 6.5 ft | 72 x 78 in | Master bedrooms (the most common couple size) |
| Long king | 6 x 7 ft | 72 x 84 in | Tall sleepers |
In everyday Pakistani usage, "double bed" often just means a bed for two, including king size. Sellers and mattress makers do not all use the same numbers, so measure the mattress you have, or plan to buy, before you order. Custom sizes are always available: we build to your exact mattress.
Which wood for your bed
- Sheesham: hard, heavy and stable once seasoned, with heartwood that resists termites better than most local woods. Our solid Sheesham beds carry the 50-year Sheesham wood guarantee.
- Kail: a light, lower-cost pine. Good value for simpler beds and children's rooms when treated and kept dry.
- Diyar: Pakistan's national tree, light in weight with very durable heartwood.
- Akhrot (walnut): rich brown grain for carved and statement beds.
- Teak: imported and very durable, for clients who want it specifically.
Solid wood or MDF and lasani
Board beds (MDF or laminated "lasani" sheet) cost less at the start, but board swells for good if it gets wet, screws lose their grip after a few moves, and a chipped laminate cannot be repaired invisibly. A solid wood palang can be tightened, sanded and re-polished, and handed on. We tell you plainly if any part of a design uses board.
Storage beds (box wala palang)
Most of our designs can be made with a lift-up box base or side drawers. Storage adds weight and cost, so decide early. Drawers need about 2 feet of clear floor beside the bed to open fully.
Delivery, fitting and care
Beds travel in parts with every joint cut and test-fitted in the workshop, so setting up at home is quick. We deliver across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. To keep a wooden bed tight for decades, check the bolts once a year, keep it a few inches off damp walls during the monsoon, dust with a dry cloth and avoid harsh sprays on the polish.

Frequently asked questions
Which wood is best for a bed in Pakistan?
For a bed that should last decades, Sheesham is the traditional choice. It is hard (about 1,660 lbf Janka, per the Wood Database), stable once seasoned, and its heartwood was the most termite-resistant of ten local woods in a Pakistani study. Kail costs less and suits simpler beds kept in dry rooms.
What is the price of a wooden bed in Pakistan?
Price depends on size, wood, headboard detail and storage, so a carved Sheesham king bed costs more than a plain Kail single. Each design on this page shows its own price. For made-to-order changes, send the design and your mattress size on WhatsApp and we will quote it exactly.
Solid wood or MDF and lasani bed: which lasts longer?
Solid wood, in normal home use. MDF and lasani board swell permanently if they get wet, screw holes loosen after a move or two, and damaged laminate cannot be repaired invisibly. A solid wood bed can be tightened, repaired and re-polished many times over its life.
Do you make beds with box storage (box wala palang)?
Yes. Most designs can be made with a lift-up box base or with side drawers. Box storage holds more and suits rooms where drawers cannot open; drawers are easier for daily use. Tell us which you prefer when you order so the base is built for it.
Can I order a bed in my own design or size?
Yes. Send a photo or sketch of the design and the size of your mattress. Our craftsmen in Chiniot will build it in the wood and polish you choose. We confirm the drawing, wood and price with you before work starts.
Do you deliver and fit beds in Islamabad and Rawalpindi?
Yes, we deliver across both cities. Beds travel in parts with the joints already cut and tested in our workshop, so putting the bed together at home is quick. We confirm the delivery date, any delivery charge and fitting when we confirm your order.
