A built-in wardrobe uses the whole wall, floor to ceiling, so a bedroom gains storage without losing floor space. We design, make and fit made-to-measure wardrobes, cupboards and walk-in closets for homes in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, planned around how you actually dress, store and live.
Built-in or free-standing?
A free-standing almari can move house with you, and we make those too in our wardrobes collection. A built-in wardrobe is the better choice when:
- The room has a recess, an awkward corner or a sloping wall that a standard almari would waste
- You want storage right up to the ceiling, with a loft for quilts, suitcases and winter bedding
- You want a clean, fitted look with no gap above or beside the cabinet for dust to collect
What we build
- Wall-to-wall wardrobes with hinged or sliding doors
- Cupboards in a wall recess (almari in wall), with or without a loft above
- Walk-in closets with open hanging, drawers, shoe racks and a mirror wall
- Wardrobes with a dressing unit built into one end, with a mirror and drawers
- Children's and guest room storage that can be re-arranged as the room changes
Planning the inside
The inside is where a wardrobe earns its place. We draw the internal layout with you before anything is made:
- Long hanging for shalwar kameez, dupattas folded over the rail and formal wear
- Short double hanging for shirts and trousers, which doubles the rail space
- Drawers and pull-out trays for folded clothes, with a lockable drawer or locker for valuables
- Shoe racks, tie and belt pull-outs, and a tall section for an ironing board or vacuum
- Lofts for suitcases, quilts and things you reach for once a season
Materials
| Option | Character | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Solid Sheesham shutters | Rich grain, can be carved, heirloom feel | Our 50-year Sheesham guarantee covers the solid heartwood |
| Solid Diyar or Kail | Lighter woods for frames and painted or polished doors | Kail is a softwood and is not naturally termite resistant, so it is treated |
| Veneer on board | The look of real oak, ash or walnut at a lower cost | Can be lightly refinished; sealed edges matter |
| Laminated board (MDF or Lasani) | Wipeable, many colours and textures, budget friendly | Ask which core is underneath; cannot be refinished |
Most built-in wardrobes combine a board carcass with the shutter material you choose, because a stable carcass and a beautiful door is where the money is best spent. Our guide to boards and surfaces explains MDF, Lasani, plywood and veneer in more detail.
Damp walls and termites
Islamabad and Rawalpindi monsoons are hard on anything fixed to an outside wall. During the measurement visit we check the wall for damp and look for termite mud tubes along the skirting. Where a wall is suspect we leave a ventilated gap, add a protective back panel and keep the carcass off the floor on a plinth, rather than fixing board straight to wet plaster.
How a wardrobe project runs
- Tell us about the room. Send a photo of the wall and rough sizes on WhatsApp.
- Free home measurement visit. We measure the wall, ceiling height, skirting, switches and AC points, and check for damp.
- Drawing and quote. You see the front elevation and the internal layout, with an itemised quote.
- Workshop build. Carcasses and doors are made and finished in our workshop.
- Fitting. Our carpenters install, level and scribe the wardrobe to your walls, then adjust every door and drawer.
- Aftercare. If a door drops or a runner needs adjusting after the first months of use, we come back.
A built-in wardrobe typically takes a few weeks from approved drawing to fitting, depending on its size, the materials and the finish.
What affects the price
- The width and height of the wardrobe, and whether a loft is included
- Hinged or sliding doors, and mirror or glass panels
- The material of the doors and the carcass
- How much of the inside is drawers and fittings rather than open shelves and rails
- Handles, soft-close hinges and runners
We quote per wardrobe after measuring, with each part listed, so you can see where the cost goes.

Frequently asked questions
Built-in or free-standing wardrobe: which is better?
A built-in wardrobe uses the full wall up to the ceiling and suits recesses and awkward corners. A free-standing almari can move with you when you change house. We make both, so choose by the room and how long you plan to stay.
Can the wardrobe have a mirror and a dressing unit?
Yes. We can build a dressing unit with a mirror and drawers into one end of the wardrobe, or fit mirror panels on the doors.
Sliding or hinged doors?
Sliding doors save space in front of the wardrobe and suit narrow rooms. Hinged doors open the whole section at once and are simpler to maintain. We show you both in the drawing for your room.
What if the wall is damp?
We check for damp and termite activity during the measurement visit. On a suspect wall we leave a ventilated gap, add a protective back panel and raise the carcass on a plinth, and we will tell you if the wall needs repair before fitting.
How long does a built-in wardrobe take?
Typically a few weeks from approved drawing to fitting, depending on size, materials and finish.
Do you make walk-in closets?
Yes, where the room allows. We plan open hanging, drawers, shoe racks and a mirror wall around the space you have.
