Choosing double beds
What "double bed" means in Pakistan
In everyday use, many people in Pakistan say "double bed" for any bed that sleeps two, including a king. Mattress makers, though, use the word for a narrower size. This page covers the true double and the queen. If you want the full 6 ft width, go to king size beds.

Because sellers do not all use the same numbers, the safest step is simple: measure your mattress, or the one you plan to buy, and send us the size. We build the frame to fit it.
Who a double or queen bed suits
- Couples in smaller rooms: a queen gives two adults enough space while leaving room for a wardrobe or dressing table.
- Guest rooms: a double is generous for one guest and workable for two on a short stay.
- Teenagers: a double gives a growing teenager space without filling the room.
Storage options (double bed box wala)
A lift-up box base under a double bed holds quilts, razais and seasonal clothes out of sight. Side drawers are easier for daily use but need about 2 ft of clear floor beside the bed. Tell us your choice when ordering, because the base is built differently.
Headboards and poshish
Choose a plain wooden panel, a carved Chinioti headboard, or a padded poshish headboard on a solid wood frame. Fabric headboards are covered in more detail on our cushion beds page.
Woods
- Sheesham: hard and stable, our first recommendation for a bed you want to keep. Solid Sheesham parts carry the 50-year Sheesham wood guarantee.
- Kail: lighter and lower in cost; good value for guest rooms if kept dry.
- Diyar and Akhrot: for a different grain and colour.
Slats, height and comfort
A good double bed is quiet and firm underneath. Our frames carry the mattress on solid wood slats spaced close enough to support foam and spring mattresses evenly, with a centre rail on queen sizes so the middle does not sag. Tell us the height you like: a lower frame feels modern and suits low windows, while a higher frame is easier to get in and out of and leaves more room for box storage.
Care and delivery
Check the bolts once a year, keep the bed a few inches from damp walls in the monsoon, and dust with a dry cloth. We deliver across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and the bed travels in parts that are quick to put together in your room.

Frequently asked questions
What is the standard double bed size in Pakistan?
Sources disagree. One Pakistani mattress maker gives about 54 x 75 inches (roughly 4.5 x 6.25 ft) for a double, while 60 x 78 inches (5 x 6.5 ft) is usually called queen. In daily speech, 'double bed' can even mean a king. Measure your mattress and we will build the frame to fit.
Is a queen bed the same as a double bed?
Not quite. A queen is usually 5 x 6.5 ft (60 x 78 inches), wider and longer than a true double of about 54 x 75 inches. Both sleep two people, but a queen is more comfortable for two adults every night. A king (6 x 6.5 ft) is wider again.
Which mattress size fits your double bed?
Each design lists the mattress it is built for. Because we make beds to order, we can build the frame for the mattress you already own: send us its width and length in inches, and we will cut the frame so the mattress sits snugly without gaps at the sides.
Can I get a double bed with storage drawers?
Yes. Most double and queen designs can be made with side drawers or a lift-up box base. Drawers need about 2 feet of clear floor beside the bed to open; a box base works in tighter rooms. Choose before we start, because the base is built differently.
Do you sell full size beds?
'Full size' is an American name for a double, about 54 x 75 inches. We make it under the double bed size. If you have an imported full or queen mattress, send us its exact measurements and we will build the frame to match.
